A parade of horse drawn carriages, riders, women in typical flamenco dresses, locals, and foreigners constantly parade through the streets of the bustling Feria site.

The origins of the April Fair date back to the 19th century. In 1847, a Catalan, Narciso Bonaplata, and a Basque, José María de Ibarra, proposed the celebration of a livestock fair and over the years it has evolved into the famous fiesta which we know today. Every year in April, a temporary "city" of marquees is built. A parade of horse drawn carriages, riders, women in typical flamenco dresses, locals, and foreigners constantly parade through the streets of the bustling Feria site. Marquees become the centre of social life. They are the place where people welcome their visitors, talk, sing, dance the typical sevillanas, eat and drink plenty of wine - fino from Jerez and manzanilla from Sanlucar. |
